Expanded Graphite Packing
Packing material made of yarn made of expanded pure graphite. With its thermal and chemical resistance, self-lubricating properties and good thermal conductivity, it is perfect for high-temperature braided packing. The packing may be reinforced with a thin inconel wire or in the version without reinforcement enriched with a corrosion inhibitor. Recommended for use in pump and fitting glands at temperatures up to 450°C in contact with water, steam, oils, solvents, salts, acids and alkalis, except for strong oxidants. Not recommended for contact with liquid metals and abrasive media. Especially suitable for centrifugal pumps where PTFE cannot be used due to temperature. Used in the power industry as a replacement for asbestos packing.
